Vietnamese AOC community has a Facebook group with 1000+ members. During the past few months, we have been having lots of members getting fp problems while playing Voobly. In Vietnam, there are three main internet providers: VNPT, Viettel and FPT. VNPT users rarely get fp, while Viettel and FPT users get fp regularly.
My question: Are there ways to fix these fp problems once and for all? For a lot of present solutions, they are often quite complicated with low success rates, so a lot of people have settled to specing instead of playing, which is unfortunate.
Thank you.
Best,
Thanks for sharing this. As such there is no universal solution to fix the fp issue for a demographic. When 2 players are not able to connect to each other via a direct connection on Voobly, it will automatically route the traffic through ours proxy servers. This is known as fast proxy and slow proxy. If you do not want the connection to be diverted via our fast proxy servers, then you need to make sure a direct connection can be made possible.
The only way you can do this is by ensuring that the Voobly NAT port (default 16000) stays open on your network. In most cases this can very easily be done by logging into your router/ modem and opening (also known as forwarding) your NAT port to your computers IP (the one that you are playing on). While this should work for a majority of users, in some cases, it may fail (i.e. if your ISP is blocking those ports at their end).
If you believe this is a generic problem for all users of a particular ISP, then it may be wise to talk to the provider and have them make sure the NAT port is open. Do note that some ISPs may require their clients to purchase a static IP in order to be able to achieve this. More so in case of PPPOE type of connections.
Side note: We have a help desk system where we are happy to assist players on a case to case basis. Feel free to join the lobby if you need our help.
Good luck
